Kate Kohn-Parrott, MAS, MBA, CIA, CMA Principal, Novi-based KKP Consulting, LLC.
Chairwoman 3-year-term
Kate Kohn-Parrott is the principal of Novi-based KKP Consulting, LLC, a benefits and population health management firm that assists organizations with initiatives to improve health and wellbeing and provides benefits management advice to small and medium-sized businesses.
Kate served from 2012-2021 as President and CEO of the Greater Detroit Area Health Council, (GDAHC), a multi-stakeholder member organization and the nation s first andlongest-tenured Regional Health Improvement Collaborative. Kate redefined GDAHC s strategic plan and led its work tomake health care more affordable, identify and reduce disparities and implicit bias in care, integrate social determinants of health with clinical care, improve health behaviors, and drive positive health outcomes.
Kate is a Certified Management Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor. She is pursuing a doctor of health science in population health management from Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She has a Master of Applied Science in population health from Johns Hopkins University JHU, an MBA majors
in finance and economics from the University of Detroit Mercy, and a BBA major in accounting from Eastern Michigan University. She holds Certificates from the JHU Population Health Management program, the Stanford University Executive Program, and the Managing Business Program at Insead France.
Kate serves on several nonprofit boards. She was born in Detroit and is married with two adult daughters.
Kimberly Faison, BA Director of Community and Economic Development at Detroit Future City
Vice Chair 3-year-term
Kimberly Faison is the Director of Community and Economic Development at Detroit Future City with a focus on neighborhood economic growth within residential, commercial and industrial districts. Faison brings 22 years of experience in economic and community development to her role. She previously served as a Program Officer with the Ralph Wilson Foundation supporting Nonprofit Support and Innovation, where she supported the creation and development of Co.Act Detroit and was the inaugural Director of ProsperUS Detroit, leading a citywide collaboration in support of emerging entrepreneurs where she managed staff and program operations. She now serves on the board of ProsperUS Detroit. She is passionate about healing, growth and the prosperity of the Black community. As such, she serves on her community on her communitys planning commission and on a planning committee for Operation Refuge. She has a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from Eastern Michigan University.
DFC is known as a think and do tank, conducting research and community engagement, testing and piloting programs, and convening cross-sector collaboratives. Its work derives from a SO-year plan known as the Strategic Framework, which recommended a series of ideas, strategies, and approaches on how to best use our abundance of land, create job growth and economic prosperity, ensure vibrant
neighborhoods, build an infrastructure that serves citizens at a reasonable cost and maintain the high level of community engagement that is integral to the city’s success.
Daryl Hurley, MBA Chief Financial Officer, Focus: HOPE
Treasurer 3-year-term
Daryl Hurley, MBA, is Focus: HOPE’s Chief Financial Officer, working with the Board of Directors and executive leadership team to facilitate efficient financial operations. He has over 25 years of experience in accounting management, including specific expertise in finance operations management. Before joining Focus: HOPE, he was Chief Financial Officer at Matrix Human Services. Additionally, Daryl has held positions at Jefferson Wells and Kmart Corporation.
Daryl completed his MBA in Management at Walsh College and holds a BA in Accounting from Wittenberg University.
Karen Wood, BS Chief Executive Officer, MyCare Health Center & Registered Dietitian
Secretary 2-year-term
Karen was born and raised in the metro Detroit area, where she continues to live and work. She has worked at Community Health Centers in multiple roles for over 20 years and has been the CEO of MyCare Health Center for five years. She is particularly proud of the impact MyCare has had navigating the COVID-19 pandemic while collaborating with a broad range of community partners and was asked to serve as the Healthcare Representative on the Macomb County Economic Recovery COVID Task Force and facilitate a Healthcare Subcommittee.
Karen also served on Governor Whitmer s Protect Michigan Commission Healthcare Workgroup. She is a 2018 Graduate of The National Association of Community Health Center’s CEO Institute. She participated in the Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care and Clinical Directors Networks Clinical Leadership Academy. In 2021, Karen completed the Health Care Executive Program at UCLAs Anderson School of Management. She is on multiple non-profit Boards, committees, and coalitions. She is on a journey to create community collaborations to promote quality access to care for all.
Karen received her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and completed her internship with Oakland County Health Division. Karen is a Registered Dietitian, with a passion for serving the underserved of her community.
David D. Fukuzawa, MDiv, MSA Independent Philanthropic and Strategic Advisor
Director 2-year-term
David Fukuzawa is currently an independent philanthropic and strategic advisor. He is a retired grant maker, with over 30 years in philanthropy. Most recently, he served as Senior Advisor to the President of The Kresge Foundation, an independent, private grantmaking organization.
Prior to this he had been the Managing Director of Kresge s Health Team for twelve years, with responsibility for leading a program which seeks to advance an equity focused system of health. This was a national grantmaking effort, with an annual budget of approximately $20 million per year, and recognized for its innovative strategies to improve population health through grants for housing, food & nutrition, environmental health and built environment.
Before Kresge, he served over nine years as a Program Officer at The Skillman Foundation, a private foundation in the Metropolitan Detroit area focused on children, youth, and families. There he had a primary focus on child and adolescent health.
David has spent the last 40 years in the Detroit area, where he initially came to do community organizing and youth work in the inner city fresh from seminary studies in Chicago.
Andrew Cox, MPH Director/Health Officer, Macomb County Health Department
Director 2-year-term
Andrew currently serves as the Director/Health Officer for Macomb County Health Department, overseeing the execution of the Department’s statutory responsibility to protect and promote the health of county residents. Andrew provides expertise in various public health areas, including health disparities and inequities, environmental health, and emergency preparedness topics, including mass vaccinations and Strategic National Stockpile planning.
Andrew has over 17 years of experience working in public health and is a Registered Environmental Health Sanitarian through the National Environmental Health Association. Andrew has his Masters
in Public Health and bachelor’s in Human Biology from Michigan State University. Andrew serves
on several community boards and as a faculty member for Macomb and Oakland Community Colleges.
Madiha Tariq Deputy County Executive Oakland County Executive David Coulter
Director 2-year-term
Madiha Tariq is the Deputy Director at the ACCESS Community Health and Research Center in Dearborn, Michigan. She currently manages over 80 staff members at Access Community Health to lead the work in public health. She oversees patient care, health promotion, and disease prevention programs, including substance abuse, tobacco cessation, HIV/STD prevention and care, maternal health, infant health, refugee health, and wellness programs. She is also the Project Director for a program that promotes integration between primary care and behavioral health so that every individual serviced at ACCESS receives the full spectrum of care.
Madiha is Co-Founder of the ACCESS Center for Arab Narratives CAN, a platform that facilitates
community-empowered research, grows citizen scholars, and centralizes research on the MENA Middle East North Africa Community. She spearheads a team that advocates for improved access to health care through the ACCESS Affordable Health Care Education and Enrollment Initiative, which includes outreach, education, and advocacy surrounding the Affordable Care Act in Michigan. Through this initiative, ACCESS has assisted over 30,000 Arab Americans and other minorities in Southeast Michigan since 2013.
Madiha is a professor in the School of Public Health at Wayne State University WSU. She is a fellow at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Interdisciplinary Research Leadership Program and an appointed Commissioner at the Project Michigan Commission. She currently sits on three governing boards and is a member of over six committees. She is a recipient of four awards, including, the Esteemed Women of
Michigan 2021 Award. She graduated from Middlebury College earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics and Economics. She earned her Master s in Public Health: Global Health (Marketing & Communication) at George Washington University.

Erika Monae Lewis is the Founder & Head Coach of The Erika Monae Group (EMG) a, Career and HR coaching & consulting practice that helps people build social capital to achieve their career goals. She is responsible for assisting leaders in building trust and solid relationships so they can lead in authenticity to manifest social change and re-envision the places we work, play, and gather.
Erika is the creator of “Networking on Purpose”. Through Networking on Purpose, EMG has been able to donate money to non-profits to advance their mission, create a safe place for professionals to learn and connect, and give people permission to show up as themselves and not just their job title. She brings together like-minded professionals to form new and authentic relationships while honoring a non-profit organization.
Erika has over 12 years of experience in human resources and organizational development, working in multiple industries. Deeply committed to helping others succeed and exceed professional goals, she has coached and mentored dozens of professionals in leveling up their careers no matter who they were, what level they had in the organization, or their tenure. She is a certified HR professional and has earned her Master s in Human Resources and Organizational Development and her Bachelor’s in Accounting.
